People who know cats know that cats have a special attraction for reading material. Open a newspaper, a magazine, or a book and a cat will appear, directly in front of you, helping you read. Or... not read, as the case may be.
My guys especially like to visit when I am reading a large hardbacked book.A hardbacked book is so very interesting. The stiffer edges are especially good for rubbing against (bump bump).
The other night Bebop worked his way into my lap, settled between me and the book, then leaned over, pillowed his head on the right-hand pages and commenced to sleep. I had to stop reading, of course, but that's Life With Cats.
Last night Squirrel graced me with his presence while I read. Although Squirrel usually lies on the back of the couch by my head, this time he settled next to me, chest on my thigh, one paw outstretched... onto the left-hand page of the book. Then he pillowed his head on that paw, sighed, and fell asleep. Awwwww.
It may take longer to finish a book this way, but the rewards are worth more than the words.
