Tails from the Critter Feeder

I went out to fill the critter feeder this morning and surprised not one but two mousables! After I opened the outer (pigeon prevention) "cage" and popped the top on the feeder, I found myself eye to eye with a small rodent (Woodrat? California mouse?. Oops.

I backed up swiftly so as not to cause him undue concern. As I was deciding whether to go back in the house, he came up out of the feeder and ran down the stairs. So I decided to pour the seed after all.

Oh Dear! I hadn't realized there were TWO mousies in the feeder. I surprised the second one by pouring seed in on his little furry head. Eek! (He moved very fast).

The critters were out in force last night, scurrying back and forth on the sunroom roof, up the post to the porch almost faster than my eye could track. I swear they levitated. The speed was what you'd expect from a just-released helium balloon.

It was a real treat for Bebop. He sat on one of our cat trees (it's about 5-feet tall) and his nose was a few inches from the glass roof. Ooh! Mom. Just let me have one. Please? I'll bring it back and share with Squirrel!
